Ducati Panigale V4 Releases and Hits The Track

The new, superbike benchmark setting Ducati Panigale V4 is here! It comes in the V4, V4 S and V4 Speciale. Looking at the Ducati website, it seems the only difference between them is 1kg, a few KWs/HP, colours and price - ranging from R280k, right up to R650k!

Its 1103 cm3 displacement produces a whopping 214 Horse Power (Speciale 226 HP) and is set to be the boss of super sports bikes. Ducati says, "It marks a new and important chapter in Ducati's history, a "symphony"of performance and emotions that's 100% Italian."

Enjoy it's first lap around Mugello in the video above and here are some pics from these guys:

Google's Project Soli Is A Game Changer

Playing gesture based video games is cool, but imagine your devices could do the same. Google are using radio frequency spectrum to capture micro human motions in order to operate wearables and devices. They have taken radar technology that is used to track planes and large objects, right down to the size of a microchip. Project Soli is remarkable, just think about its potential applications.

A Remarketing Banner That Makes You Like Banners

This remarketing strategy is completely different to the norm. Usually online advertisers use remarketing to re-engage previous users of their website. 3M decided to give users the digital equivalent of a sticky note, fully interactive and customisable; so the banners you see following you around the internet are notes you want to remember, rather than hard sell messages that can often lead to ad fatigue and irritation. Did it sell more Post-It products? I'm not sure. Did it allow potential customers to participate with the campaign, add value and yield positive brand sentiment? I think so.

Head-On Collision, Only If You Fast Forward

You only see the crash with a truck if you fast forward the video by hovering over the time bar from left to right, viewing the preview thumbnail as you move. "Don't Rush" says InTouch Insurance. Not sure it's mobile friendly and branding not great, but clever video feature usage.

Douwe Egberts Yawn For Coffee Vending Machine

Douwe Egberts is not new to clever vending machine activations, but I like that this was done locally at O.R Tambo International Airport in South Africa and turned over 210 yawns into smiles. Using facial recognition, tired travelers simply yawned at the vending machine to activate it and dispense their free cup of Douwe Egberts coffee.

Microsoft Internet Explorer: Child of the 90s

This is a pretty good follow on from the recent Microsoft ad, "IE Sucks". If you were a kid in the 90's, there's plenty of good old-school memories you will relate to. They say browseryoulovedtohate.com.

Internet Explorer, somewhat of a sincere angle on this video for the release of IE10. Not bad at all.

Mobile Year in Review 2011

Is the pen mightier than the sword? Probably not, but the mobile device might be. 2011 wasn't just the year of mobile, it was the year that mobile took over the world, as they say in this video, along with some mind blowing stats. Exciting growth in 2011 and another awesome video following last years.

Audi's Augmented Reality A1 and Ford's Facebook Explorer (car reveals)

Source: Digital Buzz Blog

Audi launched the A1 with an Augmented Reality calendar for 2010. A calendar that is carless, yes that means it has no cars displayed throughout the calendar. Coming from a brand such as Audi, it could be seen as highly risky for non-tech lover customers, who would just see landscape pictures for the whole year. However for those who enjoyed the iPhone app, have a beautiful calendar that will interact with you and your mobile for the whole year (probably on your wall somewhere.. around the awesome section). On the February 2010 calendar page, the Audi A1 was revealed through the app. People who engaged with the brand in this way received the first sneak peaks at the new Audi A1
To quote the video, "The Results, Vorsprung durch Technik came alive"

Similar to this, Ford tried a completely different approach to releasing the Ford Explorer coming out in 2011. The first reveals of the new model will be made available to those involved with the community of just under 60k people on the Ford Facebook page. Mashable.com published an excellent article covering the story further.

Both cases above illustrate an exceptional leap into the future of brands focusing on relationship forming advertising. These companies clearly have a strategy and must have done tons of research before venturing into these brave social media campaigns. I wonder how effective each were in aquiring and attaining new clients, but I do like to see reputable car brands using these marketing platforms. I encourage you to jump in and add your view points or related facts in the comments section!

AdsMitchell - Windows with Built in Views

Operate the view outside from your iPhone. With technology, you can now have an awesome view anywhere in the world. I am sure it comes at a price and you may have to wear a device to experience the view, but this video is really funky. You can live on a hill next to the Golden Gate Bridge, under water with an aquarium surround or have a front seat on your very own train!

Is Tech a Language, What is a Browser?

Scott from Google went out on the streets of New York in Time Square to video survey people's knowledge of simple tech linger. The major question asked was, "what is a browser?".
