Danny MacAskill in Cape Town

Believe it! Redbull pro trials bike rider Danny MacAskill uses Cape Town as his "playground" to promote the Leica V-Lux 30 Camera. He caught my attention last year with the release of the epic short film, "Way Back Home" and you can see my post about it here. It truly is an awesome sight to see him showing off his talent on local streets. Highlights from this video include: the aerial shots around the CBD, tail-whip off high ledge, the gap he jumps (without much speed) between the bridges where the Giant Vuvuzela was over the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the sunset shots near the Glen. Massive respect to the man!

Catch Danny at La Med being interviewed on the making-of with some extra footage here.

3D Projection Mapping in Cape Town by Wrigley's

Wrigley's 5 Projection Cape Town from Dont Party on Vimeo.

Wrigley's brought the first ever 3D Projection Mapping experience to South Africa, both in Johannesburg and Cape Town. This is also the first user generated projection, allowing internet users to create their own projections with the chance of seeing them in real life. Based on the 5 Experience campaign for 5 Gum and incentivised with the prize of winning tickets to see french electronic DJ, Etienne De Crecy live on the 27th (Joburg) or 28th (Cape Town). Free 5 Gum samples were available and the projection lasted more than an hour. At times, I felt the projections were a bit repetitive and the crowd of people watching consisted of a massive ±100 people (i.e. not that many). Promo guys and gals were walking around with iPad's taking people's email addresses, but without a name. So they are clearly not planning to address you personally in future communications. I see in the above video from Don't Party, there was an interactive element too, but I must have missed it. About 840 projections have been created on the website and it was great to see in South Africa. I had trouble with my video's, but here are some pictures.

Watermelon, Peppermint and Spearmint - red, blue, green

some projections looked just like a graphic equalizer
