Google Maps Street View Miniatur Wunderland

Google went inside the largest model railway exhibit in the world based in Hamburg, Germany to create a street view version of Miniatur Wunderland. It has over 15km of railway track and 263 000 figures at present, now you can navigate some scenes online. Nice one Google Maps.

Google's Project Soli Is A Game Changer

Playing gesture based video games is cool, but imagine your devices could do the same. Google are using radio frequency spectrum to capture micro human motions in order to operate wearables and devices. They have taken radar technology that is used to track planes and large objects, right down to the size of a microchip. Project Soli is remarkable, just think about its potential applications.

You Could Handwrite Your Google Search

It will soon be possible to search Google by writing on the display of a touch-screen device (Etch A Sketch). Some haters on the video comments, but I'd like to 'play' with it, being opt-in it's all good.

This guy is hardcore! Killing long tail keywords?

All you need to know about Google Handwrite, thoughts?

Google Search, Plus Your World

Google Search, making results and your experience more personal. New developments are:
  1. Personal Results, which enable you to find information just for you, such as Google+ photos and posts—both your own and those shared specifically with you, that only you will be able to see on your results page;
  2. Profiles in Search, both in autocomplete and results, which enable you to immediately find people you’re close to or might be interested in following; and,
  3. People and Pages, which help you find people profiles and Google+ pages related to a specific topic or area of interest, and enable you to follow them with just a few clicks. Because behind almost every query is a community.

2010 in Review: Google, YouTube, Mobile

Google searches in review through 2010 are excellent in the above video, but also see the official website with the mind blowing statistics displayed for easy reading.

A rewind of the year in video! The official channel/website for full top 10 viewing, plus the YouTube Blog post. The world and I share some different opinions here, but that sounds about right.

Mobile usage is massive and these statistics are really incredible! The mobile trend is nothing new, but do yourself a favour a watch this one. Wish I had the time to write these all down in bullet point for your folk, but here are some stats to note.

Added Bonus: An awesome Infographic of the year on twitter. Still waiting for a facebook review... I know these videos have been shared like crazy and are clogging up people streams of information, but I do think it will be nice to document some of them. Think they are a bit premature without the effect of a full and post December 2010, but with that said, Happy holidays, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you!

Google Doodle of Balls in HMTL5

Google Bouncing Balls in HTML5 Canvas from Rob Hawkes on Vimeo.

Google brought their logo to life today with multiple balls for each letter that enticed an awesome interactive experience. This is an excellent recreation of the Google doodle in HTML5 that was done by Rawkes this morning. I think this video is excellent because it is not running off Google servers and networks, but a recreation so the effect is much quicker. Fast, fun and interactive is how Search Engine Land described Google's new logo/doodle. There is speculation that it is a birthday present to Google, but people are unsure at the moment. If you know please comment below. It was a well received effort judging by the response on twitter today. Search Engine Land say something might be announced at tomorrow’s big search event that "Google is holding". Catch the post by Rawkes here. You can also see a recording of the original logo experience in plain script here.

AdsMitchell - Who is Google and What do They Want?

Fun at first glance until the Darth Vader in Google is revealed. The video was released Monday this week and really strikes Google with a hard blow to the head. Google is something we all know, so much so that it has been declared a word. Spelt without a capital letter, "to google". A verb said to be used when searching the internet. So even on Yahoo or Bing, you can still google away. I am a big fan of infographics, using images to convey information. Much like this video does to show the enormous power Google has acquired and hopes to acquire, over the rest of our internet existence. Google has acquired 30 companies in the last 9 years ...

Google Voice

Google is again expanding their offering. If it's not the the Nexus One, Buzz, or Wave it has to be Google Voice. One telephone number for all your lines and you can exclude numbers. This makes it easier for someone to find you without them having to call each of your individual lines. Voice mail has a fantasic feature of converting voice messages to text. Think about when you get a voice message in a movie. Now instead of having to wait to listen to the message, you can view the message quietly in text format.

Google's Nexus One Censors Your Curse Words

China and Google, a problem with censorship. The speech-to-text feature on Google's Nexus One would filter out your swear words in a text situation. Now it appears that the Nexus One's voice recognition ability converts swear words into #### signs. The vanity censored! Mashable brought this Android knowledge  to my attention.
